Access Ohio has been contacted by local Area Agencies on Aging to assist with their mandatory state compliance surveys related to their programs and facilities. We believe that our services may be of value to you and your agency as well. As an Area Agency on Aging, you undoubtedly understand that some form of disability or limitation is an inevitable consequence of a long life.
Access-Ohio was created by The Center for Disability Empowerment (CDE) as a resource agency for businesses, organizations, public agencies and communities to assist in their compliance with The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The ADA is among the most important pieces of legislation critical to people with disabilities, giving them full access to all areas of public life including jobs, schools, transportation and all public and private places that are open to the general public. The law ensures that people with disabilities have the same rights and opportunities as those who do not have disabilities. If your agency has been contacted by the state to assess facilities and programs for accessibility, Access-Ohio is able to provide these services comprehensively, compile a detailed report prioritizing barriers and advise on remedies to achieve an accessible barrier free environment. We will help to eliminate the guesswork and assure that you are fully advised at a level complying with federal law. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss ways Access-Ohio can assist your agency in continuing to serve its clients and consumers in the most inclusive, barrier free environment possible. Everyone benefits when all citizens are fully participating, contributing members of our community. Thank you for your time and response. Sincerely, Derek Mortland ADA and Community Outreach Coordinator
